General

1. This body of persons shall be called The Collingwood Agricultural Society. The purpose of this Society shall be to stimulate good agricultural practice within the area and at every opportunity to project the image of agricultural and rural living to the public in general.

2. The fee for membership in the Society shall be $7.00 per Senior member and $4.00 for Junior (18 years & under) member per annum. This entitles each member to the following:

a) Admission to the fair for 1 (one) day.

b) The right to exhibit or compete, after payment of the entry fee, in any or all sections at annual fair.

Loss of Article

3. While the Directors will take every possible precaution to insure the safety of articles sent to the exhibition, the owners themselves must take the risk of exhibiting and should any article be accidentally injured, lost or stolen the Directors will render all the assistance in their power toward its recovery, but will not make any payment of the value thereof.

4. Any person or exhibitor who shall interfere with the judges or directors while in discharge of their duties or who afterwards, on the premises of the Society, uses any contemptuous language to any of the directors or judges, in consequence of any award made to him or them, shall forfeit the rights to any premiums to which he might otherwise be entitled and may be excluded from exhibiting at the next annual exhibition.

5. The Society will not be responsible for any accident or injury to persons, animals, vehicles, or other personal property of, or belonging to those entering the Show Fairgrounds.

6. Intending exhibitors and visitors are particularly requested to read carefully and consider the following Rules and Regulations governing the exhibition, which will be in all cases strictly enforced.

7. All exhibitors and competitors must be members of the Society.

8. On the first day of the Exhibition, the grounds and buildings will be open to exhibitors and their assistants for preparation, and all exhibits must be in their places and ready for judging by the time specified in each section of the prize list.

9. Articles of work which have been exhibited at any previous Great Northern Exhibition cannot be entered in competition for this year. All exhibits must be the work of the exhibitor.

10. Tags for entries must be obtained from the Secretary’s office. Each exhibitor will use the membership number for entries in each and every section.

11. The sum of $7.00 will be retained by the Treasurer from all persons in Senior Fair who obtain prizes in the amount of $10.00 or more, for membership for the ensuing year.

12. All entries must be accompanied by proper address including postal code, or the Society will not be responsible for payment of prize money or issuing of memberships and passes.

13. Prize winners are requested to cash their cheques promptly. Cheques not received by the Toronto Dominion Bank, Collingwood Branch, by December 20th will be void. All such cheques will be considered as donations to this Society.

Payment of Premiums

14. The Society will not be responsible for the payment of special prizes. In case of a tie between exhibitors or competitors for Special Awards of Prizes, the one with the greatest number of firsts shall be declared winner.

15. The Directors do not hold themselves responsible for the full amount of prizes offered in this list, but will, if the funds be not sufficient pay the largest percentage the funds will allow.

16. At the close of the Exhibition, exhibitors must take charge of their exhibits, and remove the same as early as possible. Any article or stand left in the buildings or grounds after this time will be at the risk of the owner. NOTE: All exhibits other than livestock must remain until 5 p.m., Sunday, or forfeit prize money.

Judging and Judges

17. It does not follow that because a prize is offered for any particular animal or article that it must be awarded, unless there is proper competition, or unless the exhibit is really of sufficient merit to warrant the award being made. The judges are particularly requested to note this fact. The judges are requested to report to the Secretary’s office immediately upon their arrival on the grounds. See time for judging in each section of the Prize List. No person shall be permitted in the horse or cattle ring  during the time of judging except the judges, the groom, or any other person in charge of the animals. Any person who shall attempt to interfere with, or influence the judges while discharging their duties, or who shall at any time on the premises of the Society use abusive language to any judge in consequence of any award made by him shall forfeit the right to any premium which he might otherwise be entitled. Judges are particularly requested to immediately report any breach of this rule.

Protests

18. The Directors are endeavouring to obtain the best Judges possible and protests against awards will not be received. All decisions being considered final. Any exhibitor lodging a protest must make it in writing and must deliver it to the Secretary within one week of the cause of the protest, and it must be accompanied by a deposit of $20.00, which sum shall be forfeited to the said Society if the said protest is not sustained.

Livestock

19. A fair quantity of straw will be available prior to the exhibition without charge to exhibitors.

Any further supply required must be purchased or supplied by the exhibitors themselves.

20. The presentation of any animals in the Horse Ring may be ordered by the

Livestock Committee, for review purposes, at any time during the exhibition and any exhibitor or attendant refusing to bring such animals into the ring when so required, shall forfeit any premiums that may have been awarded them.

Grounds Open Daily at 9 p.m.

All dogs coming onto the property must be on a leash The owner must be able to show proof of the dog’s up to date vaccinations. The owner is responsible for his/her dog(s).

Homecraft Division, Flowers, Grain and Seed, Fruit and. Vegetables on display Thursday through Sunday in The Agra-Cultural Building and the Quonset Hut. These EXHIBITS MUST remain until 5:00 p.m. Sunday. The fair will close at 5:00 p.m. Sunday.
