On Tuesday June 19th the U10 Sinton Transportation girls played in
Alliston. The girls were led by the shutout goal keeping duo of
Hannah Brown and Heidi Ohrling (in their first forays into the
position) in a 5- 0 decision over the home team. Cree Van Hoeke and
Paige Foxcroft led the offence with two goals each, but the
highlight was Gillian Bramwell's first goal in a soccer game. The
girls played well to secure the victory, limit the other team's
chances, and play aggressively, competing for every ball.

Monday night in the heat and haze saw the Under 10 girls Sinton
Transportation team run their regular season record to 6 - 1 with a
nailbiting 1-0 win over Tottenham. The girls were led by the energy
of Cree Van Hoeke, and the spot on goalkeeping of Gillian Bramwell
and Maya Reynolds. Lauren Garback scored a beauty off a pass from a
throw in during the second half. The excellent defensive play of
Jocelyn McGillivray, Heidi Ohrling, Hannah Brown, Taigan Dance &
Allison O'Halloran kept the Tottenham forwards at bay.

On Monday night the U10 Sinton Transportation girls squad traveled
to Barrie to take on the league leading Barrie U10s in a combined
league and President Youth Cup game. The girls team was out to avenge a 5 - 0 league loss earlier in June. The team started well scoring on a free kick by Molly McArthur. Early in the second half, Cree Van Hoecke and Paige Foxcroft added to the score stretching the Collingwood league. Barrie did not stop coming, however, and scored just moments later to get on the board. The Barrie squad scored on a penalty, and evened the game after relentless pressure with just a minute left in the game. With the game in extra time Barrie scored and despite the young Collingwood squad's efforts they could not send the game to penalties, falling 4-3 in extra time. Excellent effort by this awesome group of U10s and U9s playing up against a full U10 squad.

On Monday evening at the Fisher Fields, the U10 girls Sinton
Transportation rebounded from their disappointing PYC game last week
with a win against a game Alliston squad. The girls battled to a 2-1 lead at half, only leading by one despite considerable territorial advantage. In the second half the team exploded for five more goals led by Cree VanHoecke's hat trick and Hannah Sherman's two goals. Call up Olivia Honeyball played a strong game, contributing to a solid effort in front of keepers, Allison O'Halloran and Maya Reynolds. |

The girls started slowly -- good work by keeper, Cree Van Hoecke, 'keeping' the team in the game. Excellent work by Lauren Garback in the defensive middle keyed a comeback as the girls pulled out a 3-2 victory. A highlight of the game was the impressive run down the sideline, and on to the net, for the winning goal by Molly McArthur, with a few minutes to play.

Collingwood girls dominated territorially, it was the last minute
heroics of reluctant keeper Allison O'Halloran who saved the day.
With a great cross bar high save and a stop on a penalty in the last
two minutes of the match Allison preserved a tie for the girls.
Earlier Gillian Bramwell had kept the sheet clean with a scoreless
first half. Collingwood's goal was a great determined effort from
Devon Viragh from in close to the Tottenham net. Two games left in the season and our first tie, to go with two losses, and nine wins. |

The U10 Sinton Transportation girls team played well in a loss to
the Alliton #1 U10 girls. For the second match in a row the girls could not protect a first half lead (goal by Hannah Brown), and allowed Alliston two markers late in the game to secure their victory, 2-1. The girls were led by Taigan Dance's energy, and the play of Allison O'Halloran and Hannah Sherman as well as Lauren Garback's work up front and as a rearguard, and Gillian Bramwell's first half keeping. Last game for the girls is Monday, August 27th in Tottenham, and the season wraps up with a tournament in North Mississauga on the weekend of September 8 & 9. |
