Next Saturday April 28th is Draft Day.  Peter McFarlane and I will be running the draft this year as Maxine and Peter VB will be out of town.  Here is all the information you should need to know.

First and most important – Player Protection

Each team is allowed 2 protected players.  I know there are teams of three coaches and that is for the convenience of the coaches and is not to be used to “stack” teams.  Protect your two.  You can make the table aware there is a third child but at the end of the day, you may have to broker a trade to get them back.  (I have been there just last year and that’s what we had to do.)  If you get a player who belongs to another coach – don’t kid yourself – you will be expected to trade them back but it will need to be a fair trade.  People coach to be with their kids and I know that.  Let’s keep things a fair as possible.

Time

Sorry to start so early but if we hope to get done before I turn into a pumpkin, it’s an 8 am start.

U4 8am, U5 9am, U6 10am, U7 11am, U8 12 noon, U91pm, U10 2 pm, U11 3pm, U12 4pm, U13 5pm, U14/15 6pm, U18 7pm

Hopefully we run on time.  I know there have been years where by the end we were a couple of hours behind.

Draft Packages:

Packages will be available for pick up after 10 am Tuesday at the soccer office.  Regular hours will be Tues and Thurs 10 am until 3 pm.  I will see that the office is open 7 to 9 pm Tuesday night and I will try for Wednesday night also 7 to 9pm.  If you see anything you don’t agree with (ratings) make a note and it will be discussed before your age division draft pick starts.

Spectators:

Please do not bring any children with you.  We are tight for space and time and extra distractions will only slow the process.  The coaches at the end would appreciate our running as close to schedule as possible.

Unable to attend Saturday:

If you are unable to attend the draft please let me know as soon as possible.  We will have extra Board members there that will draft your team for you.  We just need to know your protected players and if there was anyone you were trying to get.

I am still missing a number of coaches/assistant applications.  People have told me they are coaching with someone but they have not yet registered.  No one will join the draft table without their application being submitted.

Yours in soccer,

Annette Schneider
